Dr. Copeland is currently the Surgical Director of Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support and Director of ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She has contributed to numerous research presentations and publications on various cardiac topics. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). “The privilege to give people a new lease on life gives me the job satisfaction that keeps me going, that makes me want to get up and do it every day”, says Dr. Copeland when asked what aspect of her work she finds most valuable. Hannah Copeland, MD, FACS, FACC, is a 2006-graduate of the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine in Kansas City, MO. Her postgraduate training includes her general surgery residency (2006-2009) and research fellowship (2009-2010) served at the University of Arizona, her general surgery residency at the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine in San Diego, California (2010-2012), her cardiothoracic surgery fellowship conducted at Loma Linda University (2012-2015), as well as her cardiothoracic surgery transplant fellowship performed at Indiana University (2015-2016).
